Evaluation of Tobacco Free Film and Television Policy in India

This study was conducted to gauge the extent of implementation of the tobacco free film rule in India, to identify patterns in compliance and violations, and to identify opportunities for strengthening the rule. Conducted in two parts, the first focusing on implementation of the rule of films in theaters, including exit interviews with randomly selected subset of film-goers to assess their reactions to the Film Rule. The second part comprised systematic observation of pre-recorded TV programmes to assess the Film Rule implementation in TV.
