The Union is partnering with experts to highlight real-world case studies on how the tobacco industry undermines tobacco control policy implementation and enforcement, with a focus on the retail environment. During this webinar, ask questions and learn about the strategies adopted to limit the impact of these tactics on the implementation of tobacco control policies.
Webinar Objectives
The tobacco industry remains a fundamental obstruction to the implementation and impact of tobacco control policies. At the Point of Sale, tobacco companies target retailers with incentives, reimburse sanctions, violate TAPS restrictions and pursue youth with increased sales around schools. From fighting increased restrictions or penalties to exploiting loopholes, the tobacco industry fights tobacco control at every turn, keeping smokers addicted and attracting young people. This webinar aims to:
-
Provide a history of industry interference and an overview of tactics used at Point of Sale through real-world case studies.
-
Showcase how countering industry interference can improve the implementation of tobacco control laws.
-
Explore free resources available that support countering industry efforts.
