The aims and objectives of the Tuberculosis Association of India (TAI)
The main objective of the Association is the prevention, control and relief of Tuberculosis.
Vision statement: TAI envisions a TB-free India through collaborative efforts with Government, health care providers and NGOs in healthcare sector for a healthier future for all.
Mission statement: The mission of TAI is to combat the TB epidemic by providing comprehensive support, education, and resources through strategic partnerships, advocacy and research driven initiatives to reduce stigma, transmission and increased access to quality care. The ultimate goal is to reinforce the efforts of National TB Programme towards eradication of TB.
What the Christmas Seal design represents
It conveys the message that TB is preventable and the importance of maintaining hygiene, nutritious diet, avoid smoking and drinking to mitigate the ill effects of the disease.
The Theme of the Seals for 2024 adopted by the Association is of WHO for the year, “Yes! We can End TB” indicating their firm resolve to prevent and control TB in the country.
What Christmas Seal sales support
The funds raised in the campaign help the Association and State TB Associations to finance research on TB related subjects, organisation of the annual National Conference on TB and Respiratory Diseases (NATCON), nutrition support programmes for those who need it, printing of educational pamphlets, various contests to raise awareness, and more.
The Tuberculosis Association of India first produced Christmas Seals in 1950.
