Updated:

Baja California has an estimated population of 3.1 million people with visitors to the state far exceeding that number. Up to 23% of the state's adult population and 13% of teenagers are smokers. 54% of adults are exposed to tobacco smoke in workplaces, and 50% of teenagers are exposed to second-hand smoke outside their homes. The majority of these people will now be protected from the dangers of second-hand smoke.

Publication of the new law by the Executive is pending and should take place within 28 days of its passage.
