The International AIDS Society (IAS) has today named Kevin Osborne as its new Executive Director, with effect from August 2018. He succeeds Owen Ryan, who has held the position since 2014.
The Union offers its warmest congratulations to Kevin Osborne, the first IAS Executive Director openly living with HIV, and commends the IAS on an appointment that will ensure the experiences of those who have been most affected by this epidemic, will be front and centre of the HIV response.
Responding to the appointment, The Union’s Executive Director, José Luis Castro, said, “This is a visionary appointment that reflects the ambition of the IAS to bring together the many different organisations who work to address HIV and its deadly effects. The Union has a long and proud history of collaboration with the IAS and I look forward to this continuing with Kevin Osborne, whose track record in building effective partnerships and promoting integrated working across the board is second to none.”
