MESSAGE FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

International Women’s Day is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate all the inspirational women across The Union’s membership, workforce and Board of Directors.

For me, this important day is not just about advocating for the acceptance of women within the lung health community and beyond, but about the justified recognition of the contributions and achievements made by women.

Now more than ever we must stand up for what is right and champion all forms of diversity, equality and inclusion.

At The Union we are committed to transforming this ambition into action, as we continue to evolve into a more balanced and diverse organisation. We have already made strides towards this, with women making up 45% of our workforce and 39% of our membership.

There is still much more work to be done to achieve gender equality, that goes beyond a single day of appreciation, but it is important to take a moment to reflect on the incredible accomplishments of women.

Next week, we will be spotlighting some of the brilliant Union women, including Union Medal 2025 winner, Dr Razia Kaniz Fatima, Childhood Pneumonia Working Group Co-Chair, Dr Rebecca Nantanda, and our India Office Country Director, Nidhi Bansal.
