The Union will hold its 19th Conference of The Union Latin America Region from 3-6 July in Panama, in conjunction with the Latin American Thorax Association’s (ALAT, for its initials in Spanish) 12th Annual Congress.
Together, the 19th Conference of The Union Latin America Region and ALAT’s 12th Congress will bring together people working in lung health from across Latin America to discuss regional solutions to global health issues.
The partnership was agreed last year in Paris, where ALAT’s President, Dr Gustavo Zabert, and José Luis Castro, Executive Director of The Union, expressed their dedication to working together closely. José Luis Castro said “We have committed our two organisations to advance tuberculosis and tobacco control in the Latin American region".
More than 1,500 delegates are expected to attend the conference, with the scientific programme covering lung health, tuberculosis, tobacco control and COPD.
This is first time The Union Latin America Region conference has been held in Central America, and will enable participants to focus on the health concerns that are particularly pressing in the region.
The conference will be held in Spanish; visit the website to view the programme and register to attend.
