The Union South-East Asia hosted an event to celebrate the achievements of the Challenge TB project in India

The Union South-East Asia (USEA) hosted an event to celebrate the achievements of the Challenge TB project in India. Funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Challenge TB aims to accelerate the global fight against tuberculosis (TB), through an international consortium of partner organisations.

Since its launch in 2015, Challenge TB India, led by The Union with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has conducted pioneering work around the country. Bringing together key stakeholders from health, government, the private sector, civil society and media to drive a ‘Call to Action for TB Free India’, it has succeeded in building and sustaining high-level commitment to end TB in India, championed by the Prime Minister.

More than 200 participants from government and partner organisations took part in the dissemination event on 7 August, which included the launch of various resources: E-training modules hosted on the World Health Organization (WHO)’s Swasth-e-gurukul platform; an adverse drug reaction management toolkit; a national multi-sectoral action framework to End TB in India; a resource manual for peer educators of enterprises on TB and HIV/AIDS workplace programmes; documents on strategic corporate partnerships and engaging the private sector for corporate social responsibility in TB; and a TB toolkit for Rotary Clubs.

From 31 October – 2 November, the Union World Conference will be in Hyderabad, India
