Stephen Lawn Memorial Lecture on Monday 22 March 2021 at 17.15 GMT

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), together with the University of Cape Town and The Union, pays tribute to Professor Stephen Lawn with a lecture in his honour. This year's memorial lecture entitled "The ongoing clinical challenges posed by advanced HIV disease in South Africa despite 17 years of ART scale-up" will be delivered by Professor Graeme Meintjes an Infectious Diseases Physician and Second Chair and Deputy Head of the Department of Medicine at the University of Cape Town. Stephen Lawn was Professor of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at the LSHTM and an active member of the TB Centre and worked closely with the Desmond Tutu HIV Centre at the University of Cape Town (UCT), where he was based from 2005 to 2012.  Stephen worked tirelessly to improve the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis among people living with HIV/AIDS. The 2021 lecture is organised jointly by the LSHTM TB Centre and the Desmond Tutu Centre at UCT, in partnership with the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union), and supported by The Lancet. LIVE STREAM
