On International Women’s Day 2024, we celebrate all of the inspirational women at The Union, as we forge a more inclusive world for women.

The Union is a diverse organisation, with female staff, consultants and members around the world in various roles and fields.

Women make up 44% of the Union membership and 44% of our workforce.

Last year, The Union membership elected a new Board of Directors to drive forward our vision – A healthier world for all, free of tuberculosis and lung disease. We meet the three incredible women who are Union Board members.

Evaline Kibuchi

Global health advocate

Evaline Kibuchi

Evaline is a global health advocate with over 15 years in tuberculosis (TB) advocacy.

Currently she is the Chief National Coordinator, Stop TB Partnership Kenya and a member of the Civil Society Taskforce at the World Health Organization TB team.

Her expertise include engaging political leadership and working with media, civil society and the infected and affected communities in TB and lung health. She is also experienced in networking and resource mobilisation.

Evaline holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communications from the University of Nairobi. She is currently completing a Masters of Public Health at Moi University.

She is the Chair of the Board of WACI Health and a board member of Aids Health Care in Kenya.

Why did you want to become a board member?

I am a member of The Union and have participated in the Union World Conference on Lung Health for the past 16 years. 

I believe in the platform The Union offers to different stakeholders and communities to advance the research and development agenda in TB and lung health among other related thematic areas.

I want invest my skills and experiences into The Union, contribute to its vision and mission, and ultimately, achieve of the health-related Sustainable Development Goals.

How did you feel when you found out you were elected?

I was elated to get the opportunity to invest my years of networking and advocacy experience in advancing The Union’s vision and mission.

I was humbled by the members for entrusting me to serve The Union as a board member.

How will you support The Union to achieve its vision and mission?

I will ensure increased civil society organisation and community participation in The Union efforts to achieve a healthier world for all, free of tuberculosis and lung disease.

I also promise to use my advocacy skills and networks for resource mobilisation for The Union.
