Dr Terry-Nan Tannenbaum, public health physician, passionate anti-TB advocate and former President of The Union North America Region (NAR), passed away on 17 March 2016 after a battle with cancer.
Terry’s distinguished career in public health included serving as Deputy Director and Head of Public Health Protection at the Montreal Health and Social Services Agency. She held a Masters of Management, International Masters in Health Leadership, from McGill University. In 2014, The Union NAR awarded Terry an outstanding service award, one of the region’s highest accolades for members who have demonstrated exemplary and committed service.
“I first met Terry at The Union’s North America Region meetings," says Dr Jane Carter, President of The Union. "I was immediately struck by her passion, optimism and boundless energy – all attributes that she has applied in her professional career to great effect. Her impact in the fight against TB is second to none, and we were incredibly fortunate to have such a powerful advocate as President of The Union NAR between 2003 and 2005. We have all benefited from her sense of what can be achieved. The TB community will be a considerably poorer place without her.”
