The aims and objectives of the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc. (PTSI)
Established in July 1910, PTSI’s vision is to be a leading partner in the elimination of TB in the Philippines. By being a trusted, valued, proactive and reliable partner for its stakeholders in the country, it is the Society’s belief that the elimination of TB will bring not only a better quality of life for Filipinos, but will also add significantly to the Philippines’ socio-economic development.
PTSI’s commitment to its TB mission will primarily focus on the key areas of research, training, clinical management and innovative community approaches.
What the Christmas Seal design represents
Christmas means a lot of things to different people. With all the problems the world is now facing, the Philippine Tuberculosis Society Inc.’s (PTSI) 2022 TB Seals theme “Filipino Christmas Traditions", highlights the positive spirit that Christmas brings to each and every one.
Filipinos for one have very colorful and varied Christmas traditions. Among others, the Philippine Belen or Nativity and the Simbang Gabi or pre-Christmas dawn masses remind us of what the true spirit of Christmas is all about. The Filipino Noche Buena is a celebration dinner with people you love. The star lantern or the native ‘parol’ highlights the Filipino’s optimism, his creativity and resourcefulness amidst adversity.
Faith in God, love of family and friends, positivity and resourcefulness. The Filipino Christmas traditions highlight these and more. These are values that arm not just Filipinos, but the global community in these challenging times.
PTSI’s 2022 TB Seals “Filipino Christmas Traditions” is a shout-out to the world that the Filipinos’ hope for a brighter future will never fade. Thus, just like our native star lantern or “parol” which lights up the dark Christmas nights with its warm and cheerful blinking glow, PTSI enjoins all peoples of the world to bring back the Merry in Christmas!
What the Christmas Seal sales support:
Proceeds from the sale of PTSI’s 2021 TB Seals, estimated to be around 252,000 Philippine pesos, continues to support the Society’s TB community outreach programs and its TB advocacy campaigns. Restrictions brought about by the pandemic still hampers the active marketing of its TB seals.
The Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc. first produced Christmas Seals in 1910, the year it was founded.
